You need localization

Hi there,

Did you know that only 20% of the world's population speaks English?

What if you tried to reach a new audience, in another language?

As marketers, we wear many hats—one of these should say "thinking global." Let me tell you why.

Any business, anywhere can benefit from connecting with more than one audience.

Early in my career, I traveled all over the world, working with others who spoke English as a third or fourth language. I learned about culture on more than five continents. It taught me that as a marketer, if I wanted my ideas to connect with more people, I had to think bigger.

Think your business is too small? Think again. In every city on the globe, multiple languages spoken are spoken, even in small towns.

What if you just tried? Tried to make your product or service more appealing to customers in another location, or perhaps in the very same city? Just test it!

Here's how to get started, and to do it right:

Explore local markets to learn what you can bring to these customers

Start with content but make it smart — don't just translate line by line, keep cultural context in mind

Don't limit your content to words — consider other formats like video, photos, banners, and even payment options
